For curators
We commission one curator per city.
Paid. Credited. Gatekept. The job is to have a real opinion about your hometown, and to defend that opinion with an editor who pushes back.
What you do
- · Build the original list of musts for your city across all five pillars (do, see, try, eat, drink).
- · Refresh the list quarterly. Cut what is no longer a must. Defend what stays. Add what earns it.
- · Triage submissions from readers. Approve, push back, or kill them. The list is yours.
- · File a short city dispatch every quarter. The state of the city, in your voice.
What we pay
- · A flat commission per pillar list at launch.
- · A standing quarterly retainer to maintain and update the city.
- · A revenue share if your city's list ranks in the top quarter of the network.
- · A real byline. A real bio. A direct line to readers.
Who we hire
- · People who have lived in the city at least five years, ideally longer.
- · People with publishing experience, food experience, hospitality experience, or a public body of opinionated work about the city.
- · People who can argue for cuts as well as inclusions.
- · People who do not run, own, or have a financial stake in the businesses they cover.
Who we do not hire
- · Travel writers who parachute in for a week and call it research.
- · People with active commercial relationships with the businesses they would cover.
- · Anyone who has ever sold a list spot, or accepted a comped meal in exchange for a feature.
How to apply
Send us five musts you would put on the list for your city today. One per pillar. Two hundred words each. No CV. We read for the writing and the conviction. If we like the cut of the work, we will ask for the rest.
